RMA board member Shelby Rist-Gutierrez grew up in Ruidoso and has always had a strong connection to the mountains and the community. After graduating from the University of New Mexico, she moved to Houston, where she built a career in real estate and gained experience in sales, marketing, client relationships, and business development.

After years in Texas, Shelby and her husband, Eddie, made the decision to "downshift" and move back home to raise their family. Together, they are owners of Downshift Brewing Company, a family-owned and operated brewery built around craft beer, good food, live music, and creating a "third space" for locals and visitors.

Outside of work, Shelby’s life is centered on family, motherhood, and staying connected to the people and places she loves. When she is not working at Downshift, she enjoys reading, running, traveling, and making the most of life in the mountains with her family.
